>>_ANOTHER FULL-BLOWN EPIPHANY EVENT
This Thursday is a very special event for the Epiphany crew--we're
celebrating our three-year anniversary! I'll be 2x4ing with Dragn'fly
again (the DJ equivalent of those motorcycles with the cool sidecar) and
el Juan will be attacking you with brutal drum and bass (the DJ
equivalent of a Harley.)
We'll be holding our anniversary at the weekly event known as
Ascension. Now, I've never been, but I've seen the reviews. The place
gets packed. It's not just some weekday night, folks, it's a true
weekend-come-early! Also, I bought great giveaway treats for our guests
today...you'll dig it!

>>_DOUBLE-D'OH!
I know I know, I promised you a recording from Touch My Monkey.
Unfortunately, the minidisc fell down and went *boom*--and no longer
properly records. Well, we'll all just have to hold the sweet memories
in our hearts--animal sounds from the electronic kiddie guitar, as
filtered through distortion, and amplified on a big, juicy system.
*sigh*
>>_WEBCAST THIS THURSDAY: ECHO COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
I'll be tag-teaming with Dragn'fly on the web this Thursday.
Rebroadcast to follow on Friday. Dang, I love this lady. So much, in
fact, that she made my list of top 10 favorite locals DJs. (Full list
included below.)

>>_TOP 10 LOCAL FAVORITES
My local favorites, in no particular order:
1. PLATESHIFTER (Overworld) - techno DJ. floats the crossfader to
almost play individual notes from each track.
2. TERRAC (Cloud Factory) - techno DJ. Really, really, *really* gets
pure techno. Smacks the crossfader with reckless abandon to "remix" on
the fly.
3. ETHAN (Friends and Family) - acid techno (and more recently,
house!). For track selection (acid techno), his "go to hell, I'm busy
drinking up here" mixing style (* see also Dragn'fly).
4. DRAGN'FLY (Epiphany/Teknique) - trance/NRG/techno. When a DJ has
musical training/know-how, it shows. Keeps the crossfader and knobs
very busy (a trait all too rare in trance DJs, c'mon people!) Pure
spankitude.
5. ANEURYSM - hardcore/jungle/breaks. 110% electronic music nut,
*brilliant* DJ (and producer!) Tons of skill at 180+ bpm--you're still
dancing, not holding your hands over your ears.
6. BOOMERANG FIDGET (herearethefactsyourequested) - The total-package
music lover. Years of performance as a DJ, bandmember, and more
recently, MC rappin' that will have your jaw on the floor.
7. ANDY W (Viberation) - Another point-of-no-return techno DJ, his head
is way, way too in there. Lucky for us, though. Extra points for
living on Ramen because his spent everything on equipment and software
to produce his own tracks.
8. LI (Viberation) - SMOOTH! Super-smooth. Great track selection,
makes me like genres I usually don't care to hear. Originator of the
"press headphones to ear with shoulder while cigarette dangling from
lips" method of mixing--very Clint Eastwood. If Clint were a DJ, he'd do
that.
9. SABIN "CLOUD" (Cloud Factory) - Another skilled techno-monger who has
burrowed his way into the very core of all that is good in techno. This
is not easy, people. But Sabin did it.
10. ASTRAL MATRIX (OOBE) - Does a producer count? I'm sure he DJs too
but I've only heard his live PA. Well, he's locally based and I nearly
faint when I hear he'll be performing, so he's on my list. Period.
>>_MONKEYS ARE FUNNY
Shane and I are scheduled for a 3am start in the chill room. We will,
of course, record the mayhem for your later enjoyment.
