>>_TO THE THIEF WHO STOLE MY RECORD BAG MONDAY

Dear Thief,

I'm feeling much better today. Dozens of friends sent me wonderful messages of support, offering their sympathies, stories of things of their own that had been stolen, some offering records or donations to help me fill the hole in my collection. DJ Pone, who gave me the record bag that you stole, gave me another bag filled with goodies. Don't bother checking my trunk, it won't be in there.

PS - Thanks to everyone for all the support!

>>_TO THE THIEF WHO STOLE MY RECORD BAG TODAY

Dear Thief,

I am going to go out on a limb and guess you don't like techno and tech-trance, which is what I had in my trunk after playing last night. Although you might like the headphones, I bet you're not into the rhinestones on top. The records are old, and the sleeves are ragged from the many times I pulled them out to play. To you it's just damned raver music so maybe--just maybe--you could give it all back?

The record bag was a gift from DJ Pone, the mud on the outside of the bag is from when I took it to Portland for an outdoor campout I played with DJ Samira. I tell you this because if you're going to steal my stuff, can you please take the memories with it and keep them together? That's how I always kept them.

Inventor of Scratching to Give Demonstration at NorCalDJMPA

San Francisco, CA – January 21, 2005 – Grand Wizard Theodore, the inventor of scratching, will appear at the NorCal DJ and Music Production Academy to give a demonstration on the evening of Monday, January 24, at 7:30 p.m.

In 1975, Grand Wizard Theodore invented scratching, the fundamental DJ technique of rhythmically moving a record back and forth which is one of the most recognizable aspects of DJing. Theodore is generally acknowledged as a pioneering hip-hop DJ, along with the legendary DJs Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash, and Afrika Bambaataa. His demonstration on Monday will be given during the NorCalDJMPA’s DJ101: Turntable Basics for the Art of DJing course.

Please contact the NorCalDJMPA to attend, or for more information on the event.

>>_BEST OF 2004

My favorite track of the year, Baitercell & Schumaker, Remix By Aquasky Vs Masterblaster - "What's Down Low" [Passenger], has been popping up in stock at dancerecords.com for the past couple of months. It's currently out of stock, but if you click the request link you'll be notified as soon as it returns.

Other Big Events of 2004:

Best Party - Love Parade San Francisco, Oct. 2, 2004
Breakthrough Artist - Kid Beyond
Biggest Coup - Spundae moving from 1015 to Mezzanine
Best New Clubbing Idea - Waking up early after a good night's rest and going to The Endup to dance the morning away
Biggest Personal Accomplishment - November release of the "Live with Friends and Family" CD

I don't do New Year's resolutions, and prefer to make changes whenever they're needed at any time of year. And my plans for 2005? For now those are a secret as well. So, have a great new year whatever you chooose to take on and I'll see you on the dancefloor.
